Harsil

Harsil Harsil is a small town with a very scenic beauty and it is one of important place to halt during Gangotri Yatra. The landscape in Harsil is dotted with many small temples that you can visit during your trip to the place. The altitude of Harsil is 2745 mts with very dense deodar forests nearby. Harsil is also a very good place where you can indulge in adventurous activities like trekking.

Harsil during Char Dham Yatra



Many pilgrims during their Char Dham Yatra, stay at Harsil for 2 nights. Mostly they reach in the evening, after taking night halt they depart early morning to Gangotri.

Harsil During Winters

The idol of the Hindu River Goddess Ganga (Ganges) is brought down from the shrine at Gangotri in the upper Himalayas after Diwali and kept at 'Mukhba' village near Harsil. It remains there throughout the winter when Gangotri is snowbound and inaccessible.
